Moira Donegan, 28, named herself as the author of the 'S***y media men 'Google document in an article for The Cut which was published on Wednesday night. The New York-based journalist said the decision was prompted by an extraordinary Twitter firestorm on Tuesday night which saw countless people name themselves as the spreadsheet's author to protect her after it was claimed that Harper's Magazine planned to reveal her identity in a forthcoming article.Harper's insists the claim was premature and inaccurate and that it had no intention of identifying Donegan unless she expressly agreed to being named.Donegan said only that her life had become 'frightening' since she made the document, a decision she now says was 'naive'.
She also claimed that 'some' of the men named were fired or left their jobs as a result of investigations prompted by the spreadsheet. 'In October, I created a Google spreadsheet called “Sh***y Media Men” that collected a range of rumors and allegations of sexual misconduct, much of it violent, by men in magazines and publishing.
Within 12 hours of making it, she took it offline but it had already fallen into the email inboxes of countless journalists.
