Previous qualifications include Wood Technology and Design from GMIT, Welding and Fabrication with FAS.In 2005 she moved to the rural location of Newbridge which led to a deep questioning of her art practice and its meaning in this rural context.Through this introspection the concept of Artfarm and a broader Art undertaking entitled Radius or R10 emerged.Sheila was the recipient of a Galway County Council Artist Bursary in 2014.The day is aimed in particular at artists practicing in the Galway Gaeltacht and throughout Galway County.

She received a BFA in Ceramics from the GMIT School of Art in 2008 and an MFA in Sculpture from the University of Washington in Seattle in 2011.In her most recent projects ”Vicissitudes” (2013) commissioned by ‘Difference Exchange’, ”Making Visible” performed at IMMA (2013- 14) supported by the Arts Council/CREATE and ‘Thin Places’ ( 2014) Commissioned by Kings College, London; she has responded to various themes such as exile, ritual and the current socio political experiences of women living within the Direct Provision System in Ireland.She has received numerous awards from City/County Councils / Arts Council and has produced several Per Cent for Art Commissions in Ireland.Since 2010 engagement with broader community has come in many forms.
