Windows dns not updating from dhcp

Statically-set clients (static clients) that perform dynamic updates will send updates for both its A record (forward lookup record) and its PTR record (reverse lookup record) to the authoritative DNS server.Clients with dynamically-set network connections (DHCP clients) will communicate with both the authoritative DNS server and the DHCP server for updating A and PTR records.

You will see one recored called "Chair1.domain.local". In the DHCP console when you connect to your DHCP server on the bottom of the scope list you should have a folder called "server options" click on that and you should see your server options listed. As long as the Internal Domains are correctly populated, then any SOA queries for any internal-facing domains will be sent to the local DNS server. We have multiple hosts as of late that sucessfully pull a DHCP address and are domain machines that there is no A record being created for the host. Please see For a static client, the client will communicate directly with the authoritative DNS server to update its PTR record.
